Coaching
My coaching style is centered around helping riders build confidence, improve communication, and develop a better understanding of the horse underneath them. I believe good riding is about more than learning the correct cues or getting through an exercise—it is about learning to feel what your horse is telling you and understanding how your own position, timing, and choices affect their response.

Lessons are tailored to each horse-and-rider team rather than following a one-size-fits-all program. I work with both English and Western riders and especially enjoy helping riders strengthen their fundamentals, work through challenges, and become more thoughtful and independent horsemen. Expect to be an active participant in the process—I want you to understand the why, not just the how.

Coaching availability is currently limited, and I am only accepting riders who own or lease their own horse. This allows us to focus on developing the individual partnership between you and your horse and build consistent progress from one lesson to the next.

Training

My training philosophy is built around communication, consistency, and respect for the individual horse. I do not believe good training comes from forcing a horse into compliance or using fear to create obedience. Instead, I focus on helping the horse understand what is being asked, building confidence through clear communication, and progressing at a pace that allows both the horse and rider to succeed. Every horse learns differently, so the approach should never be one-size-fits-all.

I also believe behavior should never be viewed in isolation. Resistance, tension, or unwillingness can sometimes be connected to discomfort, confusion, lack of confidence, or previous experiences. My goal is to look at the entire picture and create lasting progress rather than simply correcting the behavior in front of me. Training should support the horse’s physical and mental longevity while creating a safer, more confident partnership between horse and rider.
Training with me is hands-on, individualized, and designed to create progress that lasts beyond a single session. I work with horses that need tune-ups, help working through specific issues, or a more consistent foundation, and I encourage owners and riders to be part of the process whenever possible. My goal is not just to improve the horse, but to help the person handling or riding them understand what is changing, why it is changing, and how to continue that progress at home.

I pay close attention to the horse’s responses throughout each session and adjust the approach as needed. Some horses need more confidence, some need clearer boundaries, and others simply need time to reconnect with work in a way that makes sense to them.

I do not start colts, and I do not use methods centered around fear, force, or rushing a horse through a process before they are ready.
